Seven School Kids Taken To Hospital After Vaccines and Other Vaccine Disasters

A group of schoolchildren in Luton were taken to hospital after complaining that they felt unwell following an injection this morning (January 30).

Seven students from Year 10 at Icknield High School were taken to the Luton & Dunstable Hospital as they became ill immediately after receiving the diptheria, tetanus and polio (Td/IPV) vaccine.

A statement from NHS Luton said: "All of the children are recovering. Five of the children who showed a reaction have now been released with the final two due to go home this afternoon."

According to NHS Luton, the vaccine was stopped as soon as the children became unwell with 72 students having already been vaccinated.

A vaccination drive by a private city clinic in Astodiya went awry after one of the persons, Piyush Rana, 19, fell ill within minutes after the injection. The vaccination was against measles, mumps and rubella (also called German measles).

Rana was rushed to VS hospital under emergency. His father, Arvind Rana, says, "We paid around Rs 100 for the vaccination programme but after getting injected my son complained of dizziness and fell on the road."

Recently, many NGOs and private institutes have started conducting vaccination drives in city, which requires no clearance from the health department of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). A senior AMC official says, "There is a serious lack of guidelines for these kind of organisations. Many such NGOs have cropped up and they can jeopardise many lives for the sake of a quick buck."

The incident was reported to the Khadia police station. Police inspector, Khadia police station, AB Bhimavat says, "We got a complaint from the public gathered here and have recorded the statement of the affected person admitted at the hospital and will be taking necessary action in this regard."

Chairman, health committee, AMC, Praful Raval says, "Citizens should check the credentials of doctors and the organisations before enrolling for such vaccination programmes."

At least eleven school children of Dambulla National School were taken ill after being vaccinated against rubella, Dambulla Base Hospital authorities said. Medical Superintendent Dr. Iresha Fernando said three children had been admitted to the hospital during the last two days.

She said that five of them were still under treatment while the others discharged after recovering.

The children under treatment were said to have fallen ill after being vaccinated against rubella. They were said to have developed headaches, vomitting and felt faintish after the vaccination. However the Divisional Medical Officer Dr, Jayanath Jayasundera said it was usual that many children developed these symptoms after being giving the rubella vaccination and that it was not due to any lapse on the part of the officials or a deficiency in the vaccination.

Baby Being Treated for TB after He is Given an Overdose of BCG Vaccine

An investigation is under way after a newborn baby was given 10 times the normal dose of a tuberculosis vaccine at Scunthorpe General Hospital.

The boy was injected with 0.5mg of the BCG vaccine instead of the usual 0.05mg dose, lawyers for his family said.

The boy, who was born on 5 February, is now being treated for tuberculosis by immunology specialists at Sheffield Children's Hospital.

The Scunthorpe hospital trust said it had "launched a full investigation".

Law firm Irwin Mitchell, which has been instructed to act on behalf of the baby's parents, said the vaccine was prescribed and administered by a junior doctor.

It was also investigating reports that other children had been given vaccine overdoses.

David Body, a medical law specialist at the firm, said: "It is unclear how many people have been affected but we have received reports that others may also have been given the same overdose.

"This case raises important questions about basic systems in hospitals to ensure the safe administration of drugs, including vaccines."

A spokesman for the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said: "As soon as we were made aware of the incident we launched a full investigation which is ongoing.

"We continue to keep in touch with the parents, providing them with updates as to the results of the investigation."

No further details would be released because of patient confidentiality, the trust said.

Mr Body said: "This is a difficult time for the baby's family.

"Their baby is receiving treatment for TB, which has its own side effects, but they are hopeful that the treatment will be successful with no long term damage to their baby's health."

The four-week-old boy is in a stable condition at Sheffield Children's Hospital where doctors are working in conjunction with the National Poisons Information Service.

17 Babies Sick After Being Given Expired Measles Vaccinations

A baby who received a shot of expired medication for measles is being cared for by his parents at a ward in the Harbin Hospital for Infectious Diseases in Harbin, capital of Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, May 25, 2010. Some 17 babies plagued by measles were wrongly injected with expired medicine at a Harbin hospital. Families of the babies said the expired medication led to a deterioration of their children's sickness and demanded explanations from the hospital. The hospital said there were no adverse reactions in those babies after a consultation by doctors.

45 kids suffer reaction after Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s vaccination drive

Around 45 children in Behrampura had a severe reaction after they were administered vaccines by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's (AMC) health department.

The reactions included swelling of the legs and skin turning red.
But department officials said that only three children were adversely impacted and none of them was serious. The health department had organised a 'Catch-Up Camp' in Parikshitlal Nagar area of Behrampura ward on Thursday to cover those children who were left out during the routine vaccination programme.

The department gave Triguni, polio and other vaccines to 59 children in the area on Thursday. The children later complained of pain and swelling and health department officials rushed to the spot to sort the matter.

Badruddin Sheikh, leader of opposition, who visited the spot, said that inferior quality of the vaccine could have led to the adverse reaction.

SP Kulkarni, medical officer of AMC's health department, claimed that only three children developed reaction to the vaccine and none of them were serious.

Fever and reddish spots are common reaction to such vaccines particularly when administered to children.

Sources said that the expiry date of the vaccines was January 2011. The central government provides vaccine to civic bodies through the state government and three months' of vaccine is stocked by the AMC.

3 kids fall ill after vaccination

At least three children, who were administered vaccines between January 5 and 7 in Parikhshitnagar area of the Danilimda ward, were taken ill. The children were given DPT (diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus) vaccines. The health department said that the catch-up round was taken up for three days, from January 5-7, as part of which several children were administered vaccines. On Friday, the department received some complaints.

Immediately, a team of doctors was sent to the area and 59 children were examined, of which three were found to be in pain. The health department claimed that usually such vaccination is accompanied by some side effects. Meanwhile, leader of opposition in the corporation, Badruddin Shaikh has claimed that about 61 children who have been administered various vaccinations have taken ill after this catch-up round. He claimed that the condition of around 40 kids was serious and that they had high fever and also had fits. He further added that looking at the condition of the kids it appears that there were some problems in the vaccines which were administered. He demanded that the corporation order a inquiry into the incidents and those found guilty be punished.

300 Russian Children Sick After Vaccination

Moscow - About 300 Russian children have reportedly fallen ill after receiving an immunization to ward off symptoms of tick bites.

Prosecutors have been alerted about the incident in the northern Russian town of Vologda. About 40 students immediately showed symptoms following the immunization against meningitis, reported Russian media.

State-run TV said authorities have pulled the immunizing agent EnzeWir out of distribution. Health authorities said the reaction of the children was unusual.

Wrongly Injected Toddler Fights Leukaemia

A Hamilton toddler who was mistakenly injected with a vaccine to prevent cervical cancer when he was just six weeks old has developed a rare form of leukaemia.

Chace Topperwien began chemotherapy for the M7 strand of acute myeloid leukaemia on his second birthday last month, but doctors cannot tell them whether the Gardasil vaccine he was injected with in May 2009 caused the cancer.

His parents, Ryan and Keri Topperwien, are devastated at the diagnosis after they were reassured at the time of the incident that their baby would not suffer any adverse reactions.

"I had thought in the very back of my mind that the absolute worst thing they could say is leukaemia," Mrs Topperwien said. "When they said that he had it, it blindsided both of us."

The couple, both 27, were horrified when at six weeks old their son was given the vaccination meant for teenage girls instead of one to prevent meningitis.

Gardasil targets the human papillomavirus, which causes warts on the hands, feet and genitals and is responsible for 99 per cent of cervical cancers.

Since the cancer diagnosis, Chace has been undergoing an aggressive course of chemotherapy treatment for up to 10 hours a day in Starship hospital in Auckland.

The little boy is due to start a second course of chemotherapy on Tuesday but doctors are waiting for his white blood cell levels to increase.

Until then the once energetic and outdoor-loving preschooler is confined to his bedroom 23 hours a day while his immune system recovers – a simple cold or bug could be disastrous.

The couple said their only child was taking the illness in his stride and, other than a nasogastric tube in his nose for feeding, looked deceivingly well.

"He's still smiling and laughing. Other than not being allowed out of his room he's still happy. But he knows that he's not well."

Mr Topperwien has taken indefinite leave from his job as a ceiling installer and Mrs Topperwien has put her PhD studies on hold so they can be at their son's bedside.

The pair, who are sleeping at Ronald McDonald House and take turns spending the night with Chace, have taken a three-month "mortgage holiday" to keep financial pressures at bay.

But they are worried about what will happen when that ends and said if Chace's chemotherapy was not successful they might need to look at further treatment overseas.

To help the family, friends have started three Facebook pages to raise money and so far fundraising events have netted more than $4000. A head-shaving fundraiser planned for tonight in Hamilton had attracted up to 20 participants, Mr Topperwien said.

He and his wife had already shaved their own hair to show Chace, whose hair had begun falling out, that it was okay to have it shaved off.

Meanwhile they want their concerns about a possible link between the Gardasil vaccination mistake and Chace's leukaemia acknowledged. "It's not a crazy theory," Mrs Topperwien said.

"We feel the development of his immune system has been interrupted and when he was diagnosed doctors said that the mutation of his cells had come about through a different pathway to the way leukaemia normally develops."

Waikato District Health Board medical officer of health Dr Felicity Dumble said she did not believe there would be a link between Gardasil and leukaemia.

However, she said it was important cases such as Chace's be monitored and researched to establish if there was a possible association.

200 Police, Doctors, Nurses, Firefighters, Paramedics Etc Disabled By Vaccines, Denied Compensation

HUNDREDS of public sector workers who claim their lives have been wrecked by vaccines say the Government has abandoned them.

Up to 200 doctors, nurses, firefighters, prison officers, police officers, forensic scientists and binmen say they have developed serious physical and mental health problems after injections essential for their work over the past 10 years. All have given up their jobs and some are now 60 per cent disabled.

Last night it emerged they are to miss out on payouts, prompting furore among campaigners. More than 150 MPs have lent their support to demands for a better deal for the victims.

Olivia Price, of the Vaccine Victim Support Group, said: “These people have given their lives in the service of looking after others and this is how they’re repaid. They’ve lost their careers and are a burden to their families. It is very degrading.”

Frontline health workers, social workers, prison officers and binmen have to be vaccinated against hepatitis B as a condition of their employment.

This is to protect them from contracting potentially fatal conditions from infected blood through needle injuries or physical assaults.

Although they are not legally forced to have the vaccinations, without them they are not allowed to work.

Experts believe the injections caused the health problems, which include chronic fatigue, muscle pain, weakness and cognitive problems, because illnesses developed soon after vaccination. In one case Steve Robinson, a previously fit 43-year-old father of three, was vaccinated six years ago against hepatitis A, B and polio, tetanus and diphtheria as part of his work as a forensic specialist.

Two days later he became ill and developed muscle weakness and chronic fatigue. Mr Robinson, from Morpeth, Northumberland, is now 60 per cent disabled, which an industrial injuries tribunal put down to the vaccinations.

He has also been diagnosed with macrophagic myofascitis, a disabling condition which may be caused by the aluminum in vaccines. He also suffers from problems that cause him to fall with no warning. He said: “Before I had the vaccinations I was very healthy, a keen mountain biker and enjoyed walking and keeping fit.

“Now I have very poor mobility and walk with sticks, I am constantly tired.” In up to 10 of the 200 cases, Government officials have already ruled, on the balance of probabilities, that the vaccines caused the damage.

Campaigners say these victims should be entitled to payouts of up to £120,000 through the Government’s Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme, like other people who have suffered side effects, but the hepatitis B vaccine is excluded so they get nothing.

Payouts are restricted to the industrial injuries scheme but this is a long and difficult process and, according to campaigners, results in “paltry” sums. So far, fewer than 10 have successfully claimed this money. Ian Stewart, Labour MP for Eccles, has tabled an Early Day Motion on the scandal which has been backed by more than 150 MPs of all political parties.

He said: “These casualties are completely innocent. Their lives, and those of their families, have been sadly diminished through no fault of their own.

“The difficult truth is that what we have in the UK is not fit for purpose.”

A spokesman for the Payment Scheme, said: “Adults who suffer adverse reactions to vaccines given as a requirement of their employment can claim compensation through Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit or private schemes through their terms of employment.”

$2 billion paid out for vaccine injuries to kids

A local physician wrote us a letter on Aug. 17, in response to my Aug. 12 column, complaining that I "add to a gross misunderstanding" by expressing my "consistently erroneous opinion that shots ... cause brain defects in children. This has been soundly disproved by extensive medical research. The shots are to prevent serious injury and death."

Let us see whether we can locate anyone else who shares the "consistently erroneous opinion" that vaccinations can cause serious injuries - including injuries to infant brains and their development.

At www.hrsa.gov/vaccinecompensation/index.html we find the website of the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration. There we're informed that under a 1988 law - championed by liberal lion Ted Kennedy - the federal Vaccine Injury Compensation Program was created as "a no-fault alternative to the traditional tort system for resolving vaccine injury claims that provides compensation to people found to be injured by certain vaccines."

You'll search quite a while to find out how much this trust fund - financed by a tax on vaccine makers - has paid out to shield Big Pharma from such meritorious lawsuits. Goodness. Why is the federal government paying out billions to people "found to be injured by certain vaccines" if the theory that "shots cause brain defects in children ... has been soundly disproved by extensive medical research," as our letter writer contends?

Flawed claim, reporting process

And, unfortunately, this is the tip of the iceberg. While autism and other diagnoses can arrive years after an infant receives the shots in question, the federal compensation program sets a time limit for proving harm - a time limit which has passed before many parents even realize there's a problem.

The federal program also requires that medical doctors certify the damage in question was caused by vaccines. Given that most medical doctors belong to a guild that energetically denies any such harm is even possible - as our letter-writer of Aug. 17 so ably demonstrates - one can imagine how this requirement further reduces the number of successful claims.

All this leads the folks at Vactruth to conclude: "These figures represent only a fraction of damages that rightfully should be paid to families that suffered vaccine-induced damages. Thousands, maybe a million or more families, are left with life-long-damaged children and medical bills that will be overwhelmingly expensive and probably not compensated for."

GP Wrongly Mixes Vaccinations and Now 221 Kids are Offered Vaccination AGAIN

A doctor has been reprimanded after hundreds of children were given the wrong vaccines.

The incorrect vaccines were given to 221 children by the GP in Barnsley, south Yorkshire, as a single jab instead of separate vaccinations.

Re-vaccinations are now being offered to all the children affected who were given jabs between January 2009 and April this year.

VAN UK's Comment: What do they think happens when the multiple vaccines enter the bloodstream? They all end up mixing anyway regardless of how they were injected.

Tuberculosis vaccine sickens 115 Romanian children; 50 hospitalized

Romania - On Friday, the Stockhom-based European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control said that 115 children in Romania have been sickened by a tuberculosis vaccine made in Denmark according to Businessweek.com. The children had symptoms including swollen lymph nodes and abscesses, and 50 have been hospitalized since March. In a televised address on November 22, Romanian Health Minister Raed Arafat said that TB vaccinations would stop until the cause of the side effects is determined.

Six children fall ill after taking measles vaccines

Six children had to be admitted to the Mhow civil hospital on Wednesday afternoon after they were administered measlesvaccines on the school premises.

An auxiliary nursing midwife (ANM) of Kodariya village of Mhow tehsil, accompanied by an anganwadi worker, had gone to the Vivekanand School to administer the measles vaccine to the school students.

When they were administering the vaccine to the sixth student, the first student, on which it was administered earlier, fainted. Within minutes, the others also turned restless.

School administration then rushed them to Mhow civil hospital.

Two of them were admitted while others were taken to a private hospital for treatment. School teacher Kirti Chouhan told TOI that the children admitted in the civil hospital were Banti, son of Ram Singh, 6 and Ayushi, daughter of Hari Singh, 5. Dr Sanjay Jain, who treated the children, told TOI that the vaccine probably had some toxic substance in it.

VAN UK's Comment: I find it ironic that the doctor says there might be toxic substances in it when all vaccines are made up of toxic substances. It shows how little doctors know about what they are doing when they vaccinate children.
